Anton Yelchin is in negotiations to star in a remake of `Fright Night`
The Russian-born actor - who played the role of Pavel Chekov in 2009 sci-fi movie `Star Trek` - is in talks to star as lead character Charley Brewster in the reimagining of the 1985 movie.
`Mad Men` actor Marti Noxon has written the script for the movie, which will reportedly stay true to the original film`s storyline of a young man who becomes convinced his new neighbours are vampires.
Craig Gillespie, who has previously helmed `Lars and the Real Girl`, will direct the movie, Hollywood Reporter confirms.
Anton, 21, has appeared in a number of big movies in recent years, including `Terminator Salvation` and `Star Trek`, but the character of Charley Brewster in `Fright Night` would be his first big leading role.
As well as the `Star Trek` sequel, Anton`s other upcoming work includes the role of Porter Black in comedy drama `The Beaver` with Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster and crime thriller `The Winter Queen` with Milla Jovovich.
